I'm feeling down today. The recognition that I will soon be without a job, again, is really sapping my concentration and motivation at the moment. I have been keeping up with job applications, and I have even looked at some new places today, it just seems like I have been through all of this before so many times. I feel like I am just going through the motions at work, and I have a hard time caring about the problems or people here. Even though my boss worked all weekend and has been working 12 hour days, it loooks like he will still have a job just because the all the subcorporations could not function without his keeping the place running, and some of what he has to do to keep it running is real bubblegum and bailing-wire stuff.

I do have several recruiters working some things for me, so it is possible that I will not be without a job long. But I am sure tired of this whole process.

I can so relate. [livejournal.com profile] leofwine went through a lot, too, before he finally got some stability. Just hang in there and keep plugging away.

Hugs to you.

I know what you're going through dude. From talking to you, it seems you have all the agents keeping the right keywords so I'm not sure what to suggest.

If it's any consequence, at least they told you rather than springing your last day on you a few minutes before quitting time....

Ya know... pursuant to the question raised by [livejournal.com profile] tangyapple above, Akien and I saw a nifty gadget the other day that may bear on the situation here. Allow me to give you some background info....

We had gotten these truly AMAZING chocolates, you see, a Valentine's present from [livejournal.com profile] tenacious_snail, from Recchiuti Confections. The chocolates were, and I am not exaggerating here, the BEST chocolates I have EVER had. These particular ones were a Valentine's special, with delicate heart designs somehow imprinted on thin slabs of white chocolate that were placed on top of the intense 70% cocoa-solids filled squares. OMFG they are good. But I digress.... We wondered how they got the designs onto the chocolate, and Akien speculated it was with a special injet printer. Indeed, after a quick Google, we found that it doesn't even need to be a special printer--it just needs to be a Canon. (Which we happen to have, BTW.)

Now, where you and [livejournal.com profile] purplerabbit come in is that you can get a kit, complete with ink cartridges, and special icing tissue paper, and some other stuff, that allows you to print ANYTHING you want onto a cake, including photographs, for instance. Or Cthulu. Or interesting pictures of ummmm... knots, and rope. Your choice. ;^) We started imagining you and [livejournal.com profile] purplerabbit working on a cake-decorating business together, since clearly it would combine your computing skills with her cake-baking and decorating skills. And it would be far more possible for her to do on a regular basis than ONLY doing the decorating style that she's been using, which I would imagine would be too hard on her hands for full time (or even serious part time) work. I can't but think that there is a LARGE market out there for folks who would do kinky or otherwise unusual cakes that one simply couldn't take to the local Albertson's.

So anyway, Akien's still got the link around, I'm sure. And we'd be willing to let you try it out on our printer, if you don't have a Canon. Let me know if you guys want to discuss it further.
