Today was rather eventful. Friends came over and helped fill the Penske truck we rented to move more of our stuff to our new place. Things went well, we got a lot accomplished, and a lot of stuff into the truck. Then, standing in the back, just as we were getting ready to close up the truck, the parking brake failed, and the shearing pin in the transmission that is supposed to stop everything from moving when the truck is in park failed too. Because the wheels were curbed, it turned into my neighbors yard, and hit their retaining wall, rolled down the walk along the retaining wall, rolled accross the street, just missed a power pole, and hit a SUV. The SUV is the only thing that stopped the truck from rolling into the busy Carlson intersection.

So, the truck was undrivable, and to top it off, the run-away truck had hit, wait for it.... an off duty cop's car. He was really good about it. Penske has been pretty good, once the on-duty police showed up and demanded the truck get moved since it was a road hazard. The police and Penske worked out to get a tow truck to take the damaged truck to our new house so we wouldn't have to un-load and reload the truck. So once we got the truck towed here to the new place, we started unloading got most of the truck unloaded. Tomorrow we will finish unloading and then they will take the old truck away, and get me a new truck too. And I expect them to pay for all the damages too.

There is more to the story, like the part about jumping out of the back as it started to move and trying to run to the cab and realizing as it got close to the power pole that it was too dangerous, even if I could get inside. There is also the accident in the moving truck last weekend. And I am tired. So very tired. Tired of moving, tired of living out of boxes, tired of having to use dial-up. It does feel endless. And so it does feel like a kind of hell.

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad no one was hurt, your stuff is okay, and it's so clearly not your fault. That could have been so much worse!

I'm glad you had a lot of help today, too, and I appreciate your understanding about me not being able to make it. I didn't even leave the house to get groceries; it was so important for me to be home today, feeling the empty space around me. Yay for sanity.

You will be out of hell soon, and into the heaven of your lovely new home (which I can't wait to see!). I will come over and help with unpacking the first chance I get.

wowzers!

that is one moving-from-hell story if EVER I heard one! Glad that no one was hurt, and that Penske is being good about their obvious responsibility - sheesh!

Sheesh....

I don't even know you but as I read these entries I find myself concerned about the goings on of your everyday life. LOL. I found myself saying "Noooo..." as you revealed that the Suv belonged to a cop... Glad it's all over WHEW!
