Mary, Purplerabbits mom showed this to me. It is fun to watch and fun to play around with. I have managed to create a stable orbit with and against the moons rotation. It isn't easy.

I wonder if you can put something at the Lagrange points?

I have tried several times. It is difficult to get the speed and direction that precise. I would like a larger version of this. In fact, I would like to have it as a background. I may set that up just for fun and see how it works.

ooooh, candy! 8)
i made several stable orbits of different kinds.
but it would be more fun if the impacts left craters or puffs of smoke. i love chaos theory in action!

Now the fun thing is to try to get a stable orbit around the moon. Or a stable figure eight orbit. I still haven't managed that yet.

I would like to be able to mess with the parameters too. Maybe add a second moon, mess with the orbits, etc.

I guess I must be a geek....

Something new I discovered. I have managed to get the created objects to collide! They bounce off each other when it happens, which is rare, and basically accidental. But it does look neat and makes me want even more to play around with the parameters for this.
