Well, after two years, the office I'm in is closing. It is a *French* engineering firm, get the idea, with the US corporate headquarters in Houston. I'm looking for work, preferably as a System/Network Administrator. Since I also have CAD experience, I am also looking at CAD Manager positions. While I have a degree in geology, and I would be glad to work in the field, I don't think I will qualify for most geology positions. I have enough course work and experience that I can get an IT or GIS/CAD position in the geology field. I don't have certifications like CNE, MCSE or CCNA in the computer field, mostly because past experience has shown me that these certifications lose value rapidly as the industry changes.
Let me know if you want to a copy of my resume. If you have friends, ideas, contacts you think will be interested in looking at it I'll be happy to send it along. At this point, I will commute about 1 hour each way, and travel is pretty much open.
Feel free to contact me regarding job contacts, recruiters, or more info. Call me on my cell phone at 510-882-2669.
Thanks,
-Troy-

A friend asked why I had made such a big deal of the company I work for being french. I have nothing against the french in the whole political blow-up about Iraq. In fact, I think they have been handling things much better than the USA is, even if they are motivated as much by profit loss as the USA is by potential oil profits. The company I work for, Technip, is closing my office because they aren't getting any work in the USA, in large part because they are a french company. In these times when our pathetic US Congress is applauding changing the name of 'french fries' to 'freedom fries' while undercutting civil liberties, and hundreds of thousands of people lose their jobs every month, is it any wonder that a french based company is downsizing?
