Given all problems with 6A of late, I have been seriously considering going somewhere else or hosting my own journal/blog. I noticed that [livejournal.com profile] hopeforyour was talking about this issue too, and thinking of some of the same issues as I was. The community aspect of LJ is the main one. But given my geeky nature, I immediately start thinking of ways to get around these problems (because they should be merely technical).

I seem to remember reading or hearing about journal/blog aggregators. The one I know about is Feedburner which I can use with WordPress so i can set up our own blog site. Does anyone have any info, preferences, alternatives, etc. so that we don't have to rely on 6A or any other corporation which may go down unexpected, change it TOS, or otherwise fail to meet our needs?

I used to use WordPress on my own site (I recently took it down, but now I guess I'll put it back up *sigh*). There's an add on for it called "FeedWordPress" that's a pretty good aggregator for things you want to put *in* to your WordPress Blog. The only thing is that you have to manually tell it to look for the feeds (although, you can set it up to do it automatically, but I'm not that web saavy).

I don't know if that helps at all, but that's all I know...
