Got the mail server running. But there was a 300GB USB drive which has problems, and it has data on it I don't want to lose. It seems the drive is fine, but the controller failed. When I pulled the drive out and plugged it into the system, it wouldn't recognize it as a 300GB drive (my onboard controller is not ATAPI6). I need a PCI PATA drive controller. I will pick one up tomorrow I guess.

We usually keep a spare USB/PATA adapter (and case) on hand for such emergencies. It's allowed us to recover data in some really bad crash situations.
